UFC 199 predictions

Free bets Australia is happy to bring you our latest predictions for UFC 199. The upcoming UFC event is going to be known for the rematches taking place. The two co-main headline events are both rematches between Chris Weidman vs. Luke Rockhold and Dominick Cruz Vs Urijah Faber. Another fight booked for the card that should be full of fireworks is Max Holloway Vs Ricardo Lamas. If Holloway can pass this test, he will be getting close to the rematch with Conor McGregor that he wants. There is a long line of fighters though that would love to fight the Irish superstar, so he will need a couple more fights before getting his chance of revenge. Below are my  for the main card events.

Headline Event – Luke Rockhold vs. Chris Weidman

The main event between Current Middleweight Champ Rockhold and Weidman should be an explosive affair. Weidman is desperate to win the belt back and is in with a good chance if he manages to cut out the stupid errors that led to him been taken to the ground for some brutal punishment. The first fight latest four rounds and was evenly matched on the feet, but is was the ground game where the battle was won. It was Weidman’s first loss in his career and will be determined to bounce back like a true champion. Some punters feel it is too soon after the first battle as he sustained extreme punishment and he should take longer out of the game to complete recover.

Weidman is not used to losing in the Octagon, and he will want to prove his critics wrong by taking back the belt. During his illustrious career he has beaten all the best, including; the ex-pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva two times. He has also has defended his title against Vitor Belfort and Lyoto Machida.

It will be interesting to see how he comes back from this loss. In UFC 197, Jon Jones did not live up to expectation in his comeback. If Weidman form declines, he will be in deep trouble, and we could see an early KO. Weidman has suffered from bad injuries in his career, and many feel that these are starting to have an impact on his dominance in the Octagon.

After the beating Weimann took in his first fight with Rockhold, he may have been better following Ronda Rousey’s example and taking a full year out to recover. If you have watched the recent movie starring Will Smith about the true story of concussion, you will understand how important it is to give the brain time to recover. If not in later life it can cause many problems. Sometimes a fighter’s mentality and ego can be their downfall. I just hope that this is not the case with Weidman.

Being the strongest best fighter with the best technical ability is only part of being able to win in the Octagon. The mental aspect of mixed martial arts is vital, and confidence plays a big part in that. Rockhold is going to have a huge advantage over Weidman and will be able to play mind games before they get it on. In recent interviews, Weidman has looked on edge and not his usual relaxed self. Fighting with Anger is very dangerous as if you do not knock out your opponent in the first round, you tend to gas out as you have exerted too much energy.

The first fight between the two middleweight champs was very even for the first couple of round. Weidman made a stupid schoolboy error and attempted a missed kick and ended up on his back. After that, it was game over as Rockhold has some of the most devastating ground and pound games in the business.

It is very harsh judging Weidman on one fight which was his poorest performance in the Octagon. His record speaks for itself and once he decides to retire he will definitely ben included in the UFC Hall of Fame. If he can get the win against Rockhold, he will change his status from a great fighter to a legendary one.

Rockhold is starting to look like the complete fighter. He had many critics when he first started out, but he has answered them all. He is an expert at all the different aspects of mixed martial arts and is improving each time he fights. Rockhold possesses some of the most fierce kicks you will see and gives Jose Aldo a run for his money. He is fast and has great movement along with keep on changing his approach to making his attacks very hard to read. If fighters do manage to take his to the ground, his expert Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can submit anyone.

No One can question Weidman`s determination, and he has a heart of a true Champion. Hopefully, this will not be the downfall of him as you need to give yourself enough time to recover fully in the most brutal sport in the world. Sometimes certain styles of fighting do not suit particular opponents, and Rockhold has the better overall game to deal with the threat Weidman possesses.

  1. John Hawthorne says:

I’d say that Rockhold takes it again. maybe this time it will be a decision as I dont think that Wiedman has the tools to finish Luke off. Most sites have it at -190 for Rockhold which i would say is fair.
