Free Bets Australia is happy to give an in depth prediction for UFC 199 featuring Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber. After an extended period of being out of the sport due to injury, Dominick Cruz made an impressive comeback and retook what he felt was rightly his. It is was a tough fight between him and T J Dillashaw, but the former champ did enough to win by split points decision.

Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber are both pioneers of the sport. They have been around for over a decade, and there’s bad blood between the two. The intense hatred of each other adds to the excitement of this fight, and they will finally be able to put to bed which is the better fighter.

The first time these two featherweights fought each other was back in 2007 for the WEC championship. Faber came out on top in that encounter by submitting Cruz by way of a Guillotine choke. What made it even more impressive was that he did it in the very first round. Cruz has never got over that defeat as it is the only time he has ever been beaten in the Octagon. He did manage to inflict his revenge in a rematch in 2011 by winning the belt from Faber in a unanimous decision after five rounds.

It is five years since the pair last got it on, and both have been through a lot during that period. Cruz has been very unfortunate with injuries and before his comeback fight against TJ Dillashaw, may experts though he would be passed his best. He proved his critics wrong yet again and looked great. T J could not live with Dominic’s movement and found it nearly impossible to land a clean shot. Faber is going to be faced with the same problem, and his best chance will be to get it to the ground as quickly as possible.

Faber has had the ability and mental drive needed to be a champion, but things have not gone his way. He has had plenty of chances to win the belt but each time he has fallen up short. It is last chance saloon for the California Kid, and no one can say that he does not deserve to make his dream. His last fight in the Octagon was back in December in 2015 against Eddie Saenz, which he won by points.

Cruz is not known for his knockout power. Instead, he relies on his speed and movement. He has fought 22 times and managed eight stoppages over six years. Faber is a much more accomplished finisher and out of his 33 wins inside the Octagon he has managed to finish 26 of them. Cruz wears his opponent out and with the pace that he sets, not many can match his cardio. With Faber getting on in age this may be a problem in the latter rounds.

Time for the California Kid to get his dues! Lets go Urijah!!!!

    • John Hawthorne says:

For sure, Faber has looked pretty good lately and has shown he belongs at least in the top three. Getting past Cruz is going to be tough. I’m thinking something like 50/50 for who might win.

Would be nice to see Urijah hold the belt, he certainly deserves it!.

      • Torsten says:

Yeah its definitely a very even fight… Cruz’s footwork negates Faber’s takedowns but Faber hits way harder and Cruz doesn’t have the power to put him away. They are very evenly matched. Cruz got caught the first time and Faber capitalized. The second time was anybodies fight and the adage stands… NEVER leave it to the judges! I personally think Faber won that fight but the judges were pining for Faber vs Cruz 3.. I think this fight could potentially go down as fight of the year! Best of luck to both, LETS GO FABER!!!!!
